Meet Jhosue Rubio- Owner & Operator Of Montclair Nutrition.

At only 16 years old, Jhosue has already opened his second store
Jhosue, the owner/operator of Montclair Nutrition that recently took over the location of Daily Dose on Glen Ridge Ave, makes me feel like an incredibly lazy person. I’d like to think I have a good work ethic - I started working at around 15 - but was never close to being the head honcho.
Montclair Nutrition is Jhosue’s second location; his first is in Newark called IT’S A VIBE NUTRITION, which opened on June 12, 2021. My biggest question was how he did run a shop while going to school. Well, he attended school virtually, and would even multitask by taking classes at the shop so he could also lend a hand. As Jhosue notes, “It was hard, but not impossible! I feel like you can really achieve anything you put your mind to! Just got to put in the work.”
Even while working double-digit hours most of the week, I was lucky enough to have a short Q&A with Jhosue. Take a look below to learn more about Jhosue and the great stuff that he’s doing with Montclair Nutrition.
Q: As a young entrepreneur, what made you gravitate toward opening up a nutritional shop?
A: What made me gravitate towards opening up a nutritional shop was realizing that health is wealth. Think about it, without health you can’t really do anything! But the purpose is bigger than that. A lot of the time we feed our bodies all these unhealthy things and don’t feel the best throughout the day. I decided I wanted to do something that would give people energy along with all the vitamins and minerals their body needs! I want to help people feel and look good! I also wanted to go with a different concept. I’ve always wanted to make an impact in the community since I was little. I wanted something that would bring value to my customers and not just a transaction!
Q: What made you choose Montclair for your second shop?
A: I chose Montclair for our second shop because it’s such an amazing town! We’ve been here for a month and everyone is amazing! We were looking to expand and we wanted to come to a town we didn’t know much of! We love the vibes here and all the support that the locals show to new businesses!
What gets you excited about waking up and opening the shop every morning? Do you have a vision of how you see Montclair Nutrition growing in the community?
Every day, I’m the first one at the shop and the last one to leave. It’s exciting waking up everyday and serving a purpose. It’s exciting seeing our clients come in and love what we serve. I wake up every day excited because we’re making a positive impact on people! I see Montclair Nutrition being everyone’s go-to spot for their healthy alternatives!
You've been open for a little over a month, what are your top-selling items? What would you recommend to first-time visitors?
If you ever come to Montclair Nutrition these are some must try:
The protein waffles and the protein donuts.
Healthy shakes - specifically birthday cake, cookie crunch, or any of the other peanut butter flavors.
Energy Teas - All of them are extremely tasty and will give you energy, but our most popular one is the rainbow lit tea.
